"DO not go where the path may lead; GO instead where there is no PATH and leave a TRAIL"

So this weekend was a three day weekend for me. This allowed for a trip to the closest TARGET (which is almost 45 minutes away). I must say that all they say is true. There is clearly a certain Jena se qua that target has and wal-mart clearly doesn't. Unfortunately the local city I live only has a wal-mart (not a surprise). So n-e ways I drive the distance for the target and I am in search of a few items that will keep the apartment neat and organized (as stated in semester goals). So I decided to help those who are in search of a homely touch to their apartment and are not sure what they need.

1. Wicker Baskets- these work both as neat storage devices for lotions, clothes, books, and also give your room a neat homely touch.
2. Throws- finding an inexpensive throw to toss over your bed adds a touch of color and warmth to an otherwise square room
3. Lamps- go for color! if your room is mostly black and white or brown and creme a colored lamp gives it a clear retro feel and its FUN. THE GREAT THING is lamps are CHEAP. Target has several colors for only ten dollars.
4. Mirrors- (although I didn't buy one this time around)- Mirrors can be relatively cheap depending on where you decide to go. They give dimension to your room and keep your walls occupied.

Its the small details that give any room that homely feel. These are just a few simple tips that I found to work to help make my room a little bit more organized and comfortable.

"You can forgive someone for almost anything. But you cannot tolerate everything...We don't have to tolerate what people do just because we forgive them for doing it. Forgiving heals us personally. To tolerate everything only hurts us all in the long run." -Lewis B. Smedes

I dont know if I have ever mentioned on this blog what a horrible cook I am. Its the truth. There are some people who have special skill for those kind of things and I am simply not in that category. Which thus far I have deemed to be alright. So for the past...well ....I started it in 11th grade ( I am now a first year grad student..you do the math), I have been trying out a pasta recipe given to me from a dear friend. Since my first attempt, which turned out horrible (in case you were wondering), I have been on a mission to improve it. Any time I get the chance or am in the mood I pull out the colored pasta and begin the heartbreaking task of creating something edible. Although I have improved from the first overly oily batch of pasta there is still something missing. No matter how much I try the pasta is missing an ingredient. I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS. It has no FLAVOR. I follow the recipe as directed...no help....then I try to add more stuff ....still no flavor. I am helplessly lost. Not to mention that failed attempts, only further pushes the home-maker inside of me into hiding. So now I am asking you dear readers (the three or four of you that exist), to help me this semester to be a better cook. Help me on my search to find that missing ingredient to make my pasta mouthwatering.

1. Keep Apartment TIDY-dont wait for mess ( i tend to procrastinate when it comes to this item)
2. Eat Healthy (not for diet purposes but in general frozen food is not the best method)-this includes learning how to cook a little bit better
3.Keep up with Projects (outside of school)
4. Spending less money (this is a big one, I really need to learn how to handle money a little bit better)
5. Structure is a good thing (learn to develop one)

Alright so I was a bit lazy about updates during winter break. In my defense it was a well deserved hiatus. So to catch up over some of the things that were done over winter break I shall make a list:

WINTER BREAK 2009

1. There was a week long fasting prayer conducted at church in which I attended a grand total of 14 meetings ( I near ran out of churidars-Indian outfits). This was the first week of winter break.
2. Week 2 of winter break started practices for the major production that our sunday school decided to put on for SUNDAY SCHOOL anniversary.-there were several fails noted along the way.
3. I got a new phone and TEXTING ( new improvement) not sure how I ever went without-
If you are wondering (you might be if your a weird nerd) this is the phone that I got: (its the SAMSUNG ROGUE)-waiting for the day that VERIZON gets the IPHONE. Then I too will join the band wagon.
4. ANNIVERSARY- alright so my last saturday of winter break I was freaking out because the production was not coming together. I am more then sure I had a short temper with several people who were just doing their job and coincidentally looking out for the betterment of the production. IN THE END: it was amazing. The kids DID WONDERFUL. Although they enjoy making things EXTREMELY difficult, when it comes time they know what they are doing. And because of that it was a night to remember. If i had a picture i would post it.

That is all for now. Let me know what YOU DID during your winter break.

Its funny how the most amazing moments in our lives are rarely ever captured. They instead resonate in our hearts and replay with finite detail at a moments notice. Tonight was one of those nights. You just had to be there.
